Advocacy

The war on poverty has been raging for decades. And great strides have been made during this time to help individuals and families find their way out of poverty.

Advocacy Overview

Community Action is at the heart of this movement, working to create a world without poverty; advocating for a better tomorrow.

Currently, more than 875,000 Missourians live below the federal poverty line; 277,687 of those are children (Reference). These families strive to meet their basic needs but often struggle with major issues such as rising healthcare costs, expanded food insecurity, and wide-spread sub-standard housing. CAAGKC is here to help these families rise above their challenges, to see the light at the end of their struggles.

Those we serve are among the most vulnerable in our community; seniors, veterans, and children. These groups often lack representation, they lack a voice speaking out on their behalf. Won’t you help be their voice?

If you believe in the positive impact of Community Action, contact your federalstate, and local elected leaders and let them know. Let them know Community Action works and both funding and support should be continued until poverty is eliminated in Kansas City.
